Hey friends. Do this:

This probably took this person 3 seconds to do but it immediately told me that they liked my story enough to come back and read it again and they liked it again the second time.

Your favorite writers Do Not Know that you think about their stories after you read them. I generally assume that my stories make people happy for the few minutes they’re reading and then they never think about it again. To know that that’s not the case and that someone has returned just makes my little heart swell with joy.

I needed this today. If you’re the person who left this comment (or if you’ve ever commented on any of my writing) I love you.

Well this is the most popular post I’ve ever done by an order of magnitude…

The best part has been the people putting tags on their reblogs along the lines of “I’m totally going to do this now” and “I didn’t think authors would like something this simple but I can do this” and authors saying how much this type of comment also means to them.

The second best part was the person who went and read Worship because of this post and then commented on it.

An interesting part has been seeing what a kind of popular post does to your notifications.

I’m really glad this post took off, especially if it means a few more authors get this kind of comment.

here is a sweet story for you all:

the first time I saw my grandmother after coming out and starting HRT she said “here he comes” as I stepped out of the car and then started jumping up and down saying “he! he!! I’m going to remember!!” I started to say hello and she goes “oh! your voice!! wait, let me hear you say something” I say “hi grandmother” and she smiles really big and says “oh… that is a miracle :-)”

the moral of the story is that sometimes coming out is awesome and my grandmother rules. happy pride ✨

My grandmother also got bored one time at thanksgiving and asked me if I wanted to go look for cool mushrooms with her in the woods so basically she just kicks ass

god im going to be fucking hallucinating this video for months ok there’s just so much to this to break down

  • the initial fact they’re talking through a hand puppet with the oobi eyes
  • the horrible, horrible desynch between their words and the movements of the hand
  • lack of any clear place the hand is looking
  • “dwells in the depths”. just the whole sentence itself and the weird inflection on it.
  • the fact that the dude clearly already discovered this thing and was so moved by it they went to record it
  • wuoah”, and the split second of open-palmed hand that no longer resembles a puppet
  • the weird fade in on the music and the fact it sounds a little distorted at first
  • the very specific but undefinable emotion conveyed by the music
  • the inconsistent zoom
